There are so many things I could say about Philips Avent’s microwave steam sterilizer, but to sum it up in one simple word I would say PRACTICAL! There are so many sterilizers to choose from, and I have seen some wonderful, more technically advanced products, but this one prioritizes simplicity and convenience, which is perfect for any parent. This, for me, is a low price sterilizer, because there are no frills. But as a busy, tired parent to a small baby, you’d no doubt choose something more basic and easy to use than a complex machine with a light up screen and loads of buttons. Don’t get me wrong, there are other makes and models which I love, including a slightly pricier sterilizer and warmer combo, but this is so much more practical.
What makes it “practical”?
Your baby’s things can be sterilized in just 2 minutes. With lower watt microwave they can take up to 6 minutes, but that’s still pretty quick for such an important task. In that time, this sterilizer claims to kill 99.9% of bacteria. If you leave the lid closed, the contents stay sterile for up to 24 hours. It holds various sized bottles as well as baby accessories, non-electric breast pump parts and pacifiers.
And how does it work? You just add water! It really is that easy.
They safety clips on the side stay cool so that you can take it out of the microwave safely without getting burned, and they hold the lid firmly shut to avoid contamination.
This sterilizer is made of BPA free plastic, it’s compact and extremely lightweight which makes it great for at home and away. It’s 16cm tall and weights just over 2lbs. If you’re going on holiday or staying with relatives you can take it with you without any hassle. The small size means that it should fit in most microwaves. This is great because most people already have a microwave, so you don’t need to spend a ton of money.
Finally, this affordable sterilizer is amazing value for money. You don’t need fancy electronic devices, just something to guarantee that your baby’s bottles are germ-free.
